Our Final Draft

Tuesday 28 June 2011

Over the past few days me and Beste have been doing lots of research looking for a suitable song choice. We have decided that we'd both like to be in the music video and so have been looking at songs with two female singers or one female singer and one actress.

Here are a few that we liked in particular...

I think so far this is one featuring Beyonce and Shakira is one of our favourites. We aren't too keen on this music video but we really like the song and the fact that me and beste can both be in it. We have come up with some really creative ideas which have made us like this song choice even more and has definately inspired us.

The official video disabled the embed code so here is just the song instead..

Here are some other videos we also really liked, particularly the dance element of them, we might use some of these ideas for when we make our own music video..

Me and Beste particularly liked the one above by Nicole Scherzinger and were considering to choose this song however we both wanted to be in the music video and felt that it would look perhaps a bit silly to both be in it when only one voice is heard in the music.

Here is a slow song which i also really liked however we feel that a slow song might become quite monotonous and a bit boring..

In our lesson on Monday we were given two cards each and my task was to find an example of a black and white music video as well as a music video which has a narrative.

Here is my example of a black and white music video featuring Beyoncé and her song Diva..

Beyonce tends to like the black and white effect as she also uses it for her Single Ladies music Video...

Here is my example of a music video with a narrative, it's the famous Thriller by Michael Jackson..

Today we had our first lesson of our A2 Media course with our lovely new teacher Miss Poulten. We were given an overview of what the course includes and also spent some time looking at some of our favourite music videos in order to prepare us for when we make our own.

We looked at some different, quite unusual music videos, here is an example of one we looked at..

This is Born This Way by Lady Gaga. I quite liked the mirrored kaleidoscope effects and the elaborate over the top costume designs. I always like things that are quite quirky and different and although I'm not a huge fan of Lady Gaga I think that she is actually really brave looking at some of the things she does.

Here are some of my personal favourite music video's..

I love this video, I think the acting is really good and I really like how it tells a story throughout. It's quite an intense, emotional song and the music video makes it even more effective in this sense. The use of fire is particularly effective, it seems to not only go with the lyrics 'watch me burn' but also has connotations of hate, evil, burning, pain etc. It is very symbolic and a powerful use of imagery

This is a perfect example of something simple yet effective. I just love it, it's funny and even though it's all in one take I never find myself getting bored.

All of Lenka's music videos are really fun to watch this one in particular. I love her creative, funky style it's perhaps something I'd like to do for my music video.
